Blue Ridge, Georgia is the PERFECT mountain getaway. I had no idea we would all have so much fun at a cabin in the mountains. The trip was both fun and adventurous, but also peaceful and relaxing all at the same time. There’s something for everyone, whether you love shopping, art galleries, & breweries or horseback riding, hiking, white water rafting and fishing, you’ll find it here. & I can’t forget to mention those views and the weather!
WEEKEND TRAVEL GUIDE TO BLUE RIDGE, GEORGIA
WHERE TO STAY IN BLUE RIDGE: CABIN OR HOTEL
While there are hotels in Blue Ridge, cabins are the most popular option. We had the best time at a cute 3 story cabin we found on airbnb. We stayed in the Mineral Bluff area of the mountains and I really can’t even describe how perfect our cabin in the mountains was. It was 3 huge bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, a loft, indoor fireplace, outdoor fire pit, hot tub, free wifi, game room, wrap around porch, and tons of views. There was 6 of us, but the cabin could sleep a total of 8.
Here’s a tour of our cabin we stayed in! Take a look, Subscribe if you haven’t already!
We were actually pretty high up in the mountains so we were about 20 mins from Walmart, Downtown Blue Ridge, Gas stations etc. Also, we were only about 2 hours from the Atlanta airport, so flying in and then driving to the cabin is an option for those who are interested in that. There were a few restaurants about 20 mins away as well, but we chose to go to walmart and buy groceries and snacks for the weekend. We made pizzas Friday, made breakfast saturday morning, made tacos for dinner Saturday night, and then made breakfast again Sunday morning before we left the cabin.
THINGS TO DO IN BLUE RIDGE, GA
While it is totally fine to relax at the cabin in the rocking chairs in the crisp mountain air taking in the view all weekend, there’s actually a lot of things to do in Blue Ridge, GA.
I highly recommend going horseback riding at Appalachian Trail Rides . Appalachian Trail Rides is an experienced full service trail riding facility with over 30 years of experience! Luke and Blair offer guided riding tours through 250 acres of private land along scenic trails, lakes, creeks and gorgeous views of the mountains. & They offer pony rides for the kids! Our group had so much fun riding the trails! A couple of my friends were first timers, but Luke and Blair made us all feel right at home. All of the staff there are super friendly and very very patient! Appalachian Trail Rides also offers dinner rides! You get an hour guided horseback ride that will take you over to the gazebo by the pond and enjoy a BBQ dinner. AND they have vegetarian options! I recommend them to everyone visiting Blue Ridge! If you’re in the area definitely add Appalachian Trail Rides to your list of things to do in Blue Ridge!
If you love all things apple, fall and/or pumpkin, the Blue Ridge, GA area is the place for you. There’s literally no shortage of apple orchards, which was good news for us Floridians lol. They even have an apple festival each year with hundreds of vendors. We made a stop at Mercier Orchards while we were in Blue Ridge and they grow over 50 different varieties of apples and they make tons of yummy foods with those apples! They are famous for their apple fritters, apple pie ice cream, fried pies, and apple cider donuts. I tried one of the pumpkin fritters and it was DELICIOUS! They get super busy on weekends, so get their early because they can sell out pretty quick.
Since Blue Ridge is a part of the Appalachian Mountains, there is tons of hiking in the area. You can hike the Appalachian trail or you can hike to one of the different waterfalls in the area. If you want the views without the work of hiking, there’s also the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway!
This was definitely one of my favorite trips & we are already planning to go back next year. Where are you traveling to this fall?
