6 Extremely Cheap Destinations You Need to Travel to This Spring

6 EXTREMELY cheap destinations you NEED to travel to this spring

The Caribbean Islands

beautiful waters of the caribbean

I’m a huuuuuuge fan of the Caribbean. I’ve been to about 7 (Barbados and St. Maarten are my FAVORITES) of the Caribbean islands and they are super beautiful, not too far, and not at all expensive to get to from the states, especially if you live in Florida.

Since the springtime is when the weather begins to break and finally start warming up for North America, it causes prices in the Caribbean to drop. Lucky us!

Cartagena, Colombia

With temperatures constantly around 90 degrees, Cartagena is a must visit this spring! Located on the Caribbean Sea, the city features something for everyone including budget beach front resorts for beach lovers and also historic scenes for history lovers.

Cancun, Mexico

cancun mexico

Cancun is perfect for everyone. Not only are the beaches BEAUTIFUL, but there’s all inclusive resorts, hotels, and even airbnb’s in Cancun for great prices. Plus you can typically find flights there for less than $200 roundtrip! I actually flew to Cancun for only $11 last March! Check out my guide to Cancun here!

Ambergris Caye, Belize

Belize is the neighbor to Mexico and has an absolute caribbean feel. The food is delicious and the island vibe is perfect. & if you like hostels there are also some GREAT choices on the island as well. There’s Caye Caulker island nearby which you can get to by ferry, and it is a popular spot for locals, travelers, and even celebrities.  Be sure to try the donuts at ice n beans! And make sure you get a fry jack!!!! Read about my trip to Belize/Travel Guide here!

Hanoi, Vietnam

You can get a hotel in Vietnam for around $30 a night, need I say more?!?

Phuket, Thailand

Thailand is, and should be, on everyone’s list. It is definitely on mine! As you can see from the picture above it is beautiful. While there you MUST take a ferry to Koh Phi Phi where you’ll be surrounded with nothing but natural beauty from the white sand beaches to the rock formations. Since spring is slow season for Phuket you can get pretty cheap flights and super cheap accommodations.

  1. I would love to go to Belize 🙂 Asia is lovely too but a little too far from where I am so I’m more likely to find great deals in the Caribbean. There are great deals to be had in Europe too!

  2. A very desirable list. I love the Caribbean. I prefer the Mayan Riviera to Cancun though. I would like to visit Vietnam sometime soon.

  3. I’m so glad to hear that Cancun is cheap! My husband and I are looking for somewhere tropical and inexpensive to visit for our one year anniversary =). These pictures are stunning!

  4. Hmm, Belize and Cancun could make it to the list this year. Thanks for the heads up, we’re trying to save more so I’m making lots of adjustments to travel plans and the like. #Flyawayfriday

  5. We went to the Bahamas in February and now I really want to go to more islands in the Caribbean. Such a gorgeous area of the world. Belize and Cartagena are high on my travel wish list as well. #flyawayfriday

  6. I would love to visit every one of these places! It’s good to hear they’re all affordable. I keep seeing really great deals on flights to Belize, so I’m thinking I need to just go already! #FlyAwayFriday

  7. Oh wow Barbados and Belize are on this list?! how cool! Im looking for a tropical destination for my spring travel. Vietnam and Thailand are super cheap, just got back from there 3 weeks ago. Great photos, btw!

  8. I have been to Cancun, Belize and Thailand and they offer great values. But, beware of the touristy ares on those places. The prices can triple in there. For example, the food is way cheaper and tastier on a local restaurant (than maybe on a resort). #FlyAwayFriday

    1. I definitely agree with this! I found it to be true in Belize and Cancun as well. There’s definitely an upcharge/covenience fee in the price when purchasing in touristy areas. Not only is it cheaper, also I find the food to be better when eating with the locals anyway

  9. I love reading posts like this as it gives me so many ideas. I have been to a few destinations which you have mentioned like Belize, Thailand and Vietnam and totally agree with them. One that I am really keen on going to is Columbia. I have heard great things about it. Thanks for sharing. #FlyAwayFriday

  10. Thailand is awesome but there are also some absolutely stunning islands off the East Coast of Malaysia – they’re not as commercialised as Thailand but with beautiful clear waters and white powdery beaches. Really easy to get to if stopping over in Singapore for a few days. We’ve blogged about a few of our Malaysia island adventures on our site!

  11. I have to make my way around the Caribbean especially since I’m in Florida. I’ve been to Bahamas and Jamaica already. I do have travel on my vision board for this year so this blog has my wheels spinning.

    1. That’s definitely one of the perks of living in florida! It’s very cheap to get to a lot of places!! I flew to Barbados for about 120$ roundtrip last fall, Cancun for less than $100, and California less than $100 as well. Thanks for stopping by. Happy travels!
